Yu Faxin, a prominent Chinese scientist specializing in semiconductor chips for weapon systems, was detained by anti-corruption authorities. His company, Zhejiang Great Microwave Technology, confirmed this development. According to the South China Morning Post, Yu's family informed the company on September 21 about his detention by the Supervisory Commission of Huangshi.
Yu, who is also a distinguished professor at Zhejiang University, is noted for his expertise in radio frequency technology. He contributed significantly to advancements in communication, navigation, and radar tech. Despite his absence, the company emphasized its continued operation, with other executives maintaining their roles.
This detention aligns with China's ongoing anti-corruption efforts under President Xi Jinping. The campaign recently saw the expulsion of four top People's Liberation Army generals. Nevertheless, Zhejiang Great Microwave affirms its role as a key supplier for national defense and space projects, highlighting its impact on military modernization.
