A rescue operation unfolded on Thursday in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, after a tractor-trolley carrying a goddess' idol for immersion plunged into the Chambal river. Eleven people were rescued, while one remains missing, according to police reports.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (Rural) Abhishek Ranjan informed PTI that the incident transpired when a 12-year-old inadvertently turned the ignition key of the tractor, sending the vehicle skidding off a small bridge. Local residents, alongside State Disaster Emergency Response Force teams, have been intricately involved in the ongoing rescue mission.
Of those rescued, four individuals were transported to Gautampura hospital, with sources noting the critical condition of two injured children. Efforts to locate the missing person continue in earnest as authorities remain vigilant.
