The eagerly anticipated museum dedicated to the revered artist A Ramachandran will officially open its doors to the public in Kollam on October 5. This initiative fulfills the late artist's aspiration to donate his remarkable collections of paintings, sculptures, and books to the state of Kerala.
Set within the Sree Narayana Guru Cultural Complex, the museum will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Kerala Lalithakala Akademi chairperson Murali Cheeroth highlighted the government's swift action in realizing Ramachandran's vision during his lifetime. This marks the first occasion an art collection valued at Rs 300 crore finds its home in the Akademi's history.
Art expert Shivakumar has curated the 7,000-square-foot museum to meet international standards. Despite Ramachandran's absence at the opening, his wife Tan Yuan Chameli, alongside their children Rahul and Sujatha, will be in attendance. The event will also see the release of Malayalam translations of children's books co-authored by the artist, adding vibrancy to this cultural milestone.
