In a significant development, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing singer Zubeen Garg's untimely death interrogated three members of the North East India Festival (NEIF) organizing team on Friday. Special Director General of Police Munna Prasad Gupta assured that the investigation will reach 'its logical conclusion.'
Reporter disclosed that the three individuals, who accompanied Garg to Singapore for the festival where he died on September 19, have been remanded to 14 days' police custody. So far, four individuals associated with the festival have been arrested, including Garg's manager, Siddhartha Sharma, musician Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, festival organizer Shyamkanu Mahanta, and singer Amritprabha Mahanta.
Amid ongoing interrogations, Gupta emphasized the team's commitment to a thorough investigation, free of lapses. Meanwhile, three NEIF organizing team members were summoned but declined to speak with journalists. Allegations of financial misconduct further complicate the case, highlighting a potential web of organized financial crimes, which are under separate investigation by the CID.
