Despite his initial passion for literature, Gulzar's illustrious career in film evolved over time, making him a cherished figure in Indian cinema.
Born as Sampooran Singh Kalra, Gulzar's journey began in pre-Independence Punjab, now Pakistan. He began as a lyricist in 1963 with 'Bandini.' Encouraged by legendary figures like Shailendra and Bimal Roy, Gulzar's talent blossomed, leading to classics like 'Mora Gora Ang Lai Le.'
