Premier League Kicks Off Grassroots Football Revolution in India

The Premier League has initiated a significant grassroots football programme in Mumbai, India, with a focus on developing local coaching talent. This new Community Coach Development Programme is part of the league's fan and community engagement efforts in India.

The three-day programme was spearheaded in collaboration with the British Council and featured expert trainers from Brentford and Newcastle United. Thirty nascent community coaches received professional training, which aims to expand football access across India.

Concluding with a showcase at Mumbai's Cooperage Football Ground, the trained coaches demonstrated their new skills with Oscar Foundation children. Notable attendees included UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Premier League legend Michael Owen. Starmer praised the programme, highlighting its role in exporting British expertise and empowering future coaches.
