Sonia Gandhi Unveils Statue Honoring Virbhadra Singh in Shimla

In a notable event on Monday, senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi unveiled a statue of six-time chief minister Virbhadra Singh at Daulat Singh Park on Shimla's historic Ridge Ground.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by a host of Congress dignitaries, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who joined her mother to pay floral tributes to the late leader. Virbhadra Singh, known for his significant contributions to the state, first became chief minister in April 1983 and held office five more times over the next four decades before his death in 2021.

The six-foot bronze statue stands among those of other prominent Indian leaders like Dr. YS Parmar and Mahatma Gandhi. The event drew a substantial crowd, prompting enhanced security measures. Other attendees included Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and several key Congress figures, underscoring Singh's lasting impact on Himachal Pradesh's political landscape.
