The state of Jharkhand is on a path to expanding its wildlife education and conservation outreach with the establishment of two new zoos and a tiger safari. Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) Wildlife, Paritosh Upadhyay, revealed on Monday that these new facilities are expected to be completed by the end of this financial year.
The zoos will be located in the Giridih and Dumka districts, while the tiger safari will be developed near Palamu district. This initiative is anticipated to significantly boost wildlife education and foster conservation awareness in the region, according to Upadhyay's statement to PTI.
The announcement was made during the conclusion of Wildlife Week at Tata Steel Zoological Park, an event organized by the Jamshedpur Forest Division and Tata Steel Zoological Park. The week-long celebration highlighted the importance of zoos in education and conservation, featuring activities such as the 'Walk for Gajraj' and a painting competition for school children.
