Rajasthan's 'Oran Bachao Padyatra': A Rally for Ecological Preservation

In Jaipur, a march named 'Oran Bachao Padyatra' was halted by police, leading to a brief confrontation, officials reported. The march commenced on January 21 at the Tanot Mata Temple in Jaisalmer, advocating for the protection of Rajasthan's traditional grazing lands and forests known as 'oran'.

Hundreds participated, calling for the conservation of oran land and local ecology. Independent MLA Ravindra Singh Bhati criticized the state government for lacking a clear policy on land protection. He highlighted issues of encroachment and inadequate government response to preserving these lands.

Marchers braved extreme heat to advocate for resources like the 'khejri' tree, grazing fields, and water bodies. Police maintained control, with no major injuries reported, as protestors warned of larger agitations if demands remained unmet.
