Revitalizing Asola Bhatti: A Decade-Long Eco-Tourism Strategy

The Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary in Delhi is embarking on a significant conservation initiative with a newly approved 10-year management plan. This plan, set for implementation from 2024-2025 to 2034-2035, aims to enhance eco-tourism and preserve the Aravalli ecosystem, according to officials.

Backed by the Wildlife Institute of India, the strategy emphasizes participatory governance and sustainable eco-tourism through better management and monitoring systems. Located in the National Capital Territory, the sanctuary's proximity to educational institutions supports its potential as an eco-tourism hub.

The plan outlines thematic nature walks, bird camps, photography workshops, and citizen science projects. Additionally, a greenhouse will be established to conserve rare species, serving as an educational resource. Community Interface Committees will engage locals in conservation efforts, addressing challenges like habitat restoration, pollution, and human-wildlife conflicts.
