Tragedy Strikes Kerala: Elephant Rampage Claims Two Lives

In a tragic series of events on Friday, two mahouts were killed in separate incidents of elephant attacks in Kerala. The initial incident occurred at the Kidangoor temple in Angamaly, where a captive elephant, brought for a religious occasion, became uncontrollably aggressive.
Witnesses on the ground reported the elephant violently attacking vehicles, destroying a car, and injuring its caretakers. A specialized Elephant Squad was deployed, and the animal was tranquilized after a two-hour standoff.
In a similar event, at Irinjalakuda's Sree Koodalmanikyam temple, a previously restrained elephant fatally attacked one mahout and injured another during a feeding session. Authorities are investigating the cause of aggression and the temple's management practices.
