At an event marking the foundation day of Gujarat and Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel shared insights on Gujarat's remarkable transformation following the 2001 earthquake. She accentuated its successful journey from destruction to becoming a model state.
Patel attributed this turnaround to the rapid development of critical infrastructure including roads, housing, hospitals, and educational institutions under the leadership of then-chief minister Narendra Modi. Highlighting Kutch's transformation into a major tourist destination, she pointed out initiatives like the Statue of Unity and Vibrant Gujarat, which spurred investment and job creation.
She also underscored the expansion of welfare initiatives and emphasized fair land compensation for farmers. The event featured cultural performances showcasing the heritage of Gujarat and Maharashtra, celebrating national unity and cultural harmony through diverse artistic expressions.
