Celebrating Satyajit Ray: A Cinematic Legacy

His works are being preserved through restoration and digitization by the Society for the Preservation of Satyajit Ray Films. His son Sandip Ray focuses on digitizing Ray's documents and plans more film adaptations.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has praised the timeless contributions of film maestro Satyajit Ray, describing his works as an invaluable treasure for world cinema. On the occasion of Ray's 105th birth anniversary, hundreds gathered to pay their respects at his residence on 1 Bishop Lefroy Road.
Sandip Ray, Ray's son, highlighted ongoing efforts by the Society for the Preservation of Satyajit Ray Films to preserve his father's creative legacy through restoration and digitization. "The work is happening overseas as well as here. Preservation is extremely important," Sandip noted.
The filmmaker's contributions extend beyond cinema; his literary creations like 'Feluda' and 'Professor Shonku' continue to captivate readers. As for future adaptations, Sandip Ray currently has no plans to explore 'Feluda' but is considering focusing on short stories.
