Partial Relief in Defamation Battle: Meesha Shafi vs. Ali Zafar

The Lahore High Court has provided partial relief to singer Meesha Shafi in her ongoing defamation case with fellow artist Ali Zafar. The court suspended the enforcement of a PKR 5 million fine that was previously ordered by a trial court, stipulating that Shafi must deposit 50% of the amount immediately.

Last month, a Sessions Court declared Shafi guilty of defaming Zafar with false allegations of harassment, resulting in the damages awarded to Zafar. As part of the appeal, Shafi contested these findings. However, the Lahore High Court upheld the trial court's decision regarding the falsehood of the allegations but offered interim relief on the financial aspect.

Despite the partial reprieve concerning the monetary judgment, the court maintained restrictions on Shafi from repeating the harassment allegations against Zafar. This case highlights the ongoing courtroom drama in Pakistan between these two prominent artists.
