The 36th plenary session of ISO TC 20/SC 14, dedicated to Space Systems and Operations, was launched in India, facilitated by the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) in partnership with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
The event's focus is on fostering a sustainable and commercially-viable space economy, with key topics including orbital debris, space environment, and design engineering taking center stage. Dr. Pawan Goenka, chairman of IN-SPACe, highlighted India's transition towards a private sector-led space economy, emphasizing the opportunity to influence global standards.
Over 200 international delegates are participating, with sessions extending to an international workshop on space systems standardization. This gathering marks a significant step for the Indian space industry in aligning with global benchmarks, aiming for the development of interoperable space systems.
