Shashi Shekhar Vempati Appointed as CBFC Chairperson

Shashi Shekhar Vempati, the former CEO of Prasar Bharati, has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting confirmed that Vempati will assume office for a three-year term.
His vast experience in media, broadcasting, and public communication is expected to enhance the efficiency of the CBFC, according to a ministry press release. Meanwhile, celebrated lyricist and writer Prasoon Joshi is set to lead Prasar Bharati, the nation's public broadcaster.
Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Ashwini Vaishnaw, praised Joshi's appointment, highlighting his remarkable contributions to advertising, literature, art, and cinema. Joshi, who previously chaired the CBFC since 2017, is renowned for his work with the film industry.
