A festive wedding in Nagla Bhim village turned violent when a disagreement over DJ song choices escalated. The bride's cousin was shot, leading to the ceremony's cancellation, authorities reported on Thursday.
During the celebration on Wednesday, tensions flared between the bride's family and the groom's relatives from Kasganj district as they argued over music selection. A heated altercation resulted in a youth firing a country-made pistol, critically injuring Akash, the bride's maternal cousin.
Rushed to a hospital and later transferred to Varun Trauma Centre in Aligarh, Akash remains in critical condition. The bride's family halted the wedding proceedings, sending the procession back. Law enforcement officers have detained one suspect while others remain at large.
