In the village of Khambhaliya, Gujarat, a traditional 'Lok Dayro' event featuring renowned folk singer Jignesh Kaviraj captured significant attention when a viral video showed attendees showering him with cash as he performed.
Organized by the Ahir community, the musical gathering in Junagadh district highlighted the customary practice of showering cash on performers. As Kaviraj sang bhajans and folk songs devoted to Lord Krishna, an audience member was seen emptying a plastic bag filled with notes over the singer, seen in the video sitting cross-legged and nearly obscured by the avalanche of currency.
The funds collected from this unique form of appreciation are earmarked for social initiatives, organizer Jagdish Kamariya revealed, noting that money from this event will contribute to constructing a girls' hostel in Gandhinagar, underscoring the communal and benevolent spirit of Lok Dayro traditions.
