In a remarkable pre-Yoga Day event at the Indian Consulate in Shanghai, a large assembly of enthusiasts converged to celebrate the ancient practice of yoga. This gathering, organized in collaboration with the Pilates Summit of China, heralds the forthcoming International Day of Yoga 2026 on June 21.
Indian Consul General Pratik Mathur praised the cooperation between the consulate and the Pilates Summit, noting the growing interest in yoga across the region. As yoga steadily gains global traction, the event highlighted its significance in promoting wellness and harmony worldwide.
The International Day of Yoga, established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2014 and held annually, is expected to witness historic participation in its twelfth edition. With a focus on the AYUSH ecosystem, encompassing Ayurveda, mindfulness, and other holistic traditions, the celebrations emphasize the far-reaching impact of Indian culture.
