Ratapalooza: A Haven for Lab Rats Seeking New Homes
Ratapalooza is an Argentine event aimed at promoting the adoption of lab rats and mice, organized by Team Ratas. The group has helped rehome thousands of rodents across Argentina, advocating for their value as intelligent and affectionate pets while countering misconceptions about their health risks.
In Buenos Aires, a unique event called Ratapalooza attracts families eager to adopt lab rats and mice. Organized by Team Ratas, the event seeks to promote rodents as intelligent and affectionate pets.
Since its inception in 2016, Team Ratas has rehomed thousands of rodents, previously used in laboratory research across Argentina. The organization leads efforts in Latin America to provide these animals with foster homes instead of facing euthanization after their lab careers end.
Despite some public skepticism, Team Ratas founder Dominique Verdier emphasizes that lab rats are perfectly healthy and pose no health risks. Their work continues to gain momentum, with more than 60,000 followers online supporting their cause.
