A controversial situation unfolded in a Thane housing society when a dispute over sacrificial goats ahead of Bakrid led to clashes among residents. The disagreement escalated as some residents recited the Hanuman Chalisa and attempted to bring a pig into the premises, in protest.

In response to the mounting tension, the police deployed additional security forces to keep the peace, with officials reporting three injuries during the incident. The situation arose when residents and Hindu organisations opposed the erection of a temporary shed for the goats, leading to a breakdown between community members.

The controversy intensified as Muslim community members protested, resulting in a police complaint. The tensions heightened when protests continued at the society's gates. Vishwa Hindu Parishad supporters also staged demonstrations, and reports emerged of a physical altercation involving a blade.

To control potential violence, police presence increased throughout Mira-Bhayander. Meanwhile, BJP leader Kirit Somaiya accused certain leaders of fostering a divisive atmosphere and insisted on designated places for religious rituals. Shiv Sena leader Pratap Sarnaik urged for peace, blaming external influences for the unrest.
