Iryna Nakonechna's life was irrevocably altered when a Russian missile attack cost her a leg and her husband, Serhii Nakonechnyi. In response, she chose to shed every trace of her previous identity, including her hair and household belongings, save for a portrait of her and her late husband.

Adapting to life with a prosthetic has been challenging but necessary for Nakonechna. Engaged in regular rehabilitation sessions with physical therapist Anastasiia Stetsenko, she balances exercising her body and rebuilding her confidence. Her therapeutic journey is laced with humor and camaraderie, as she quips her way through demanding sessions.

On the evening of March 5, 2025, the couple's walk in central Kryvyi Rih ended in tragedy when a missile attack separated them. Iryna's recovery from multiple surgeries was a blur, marked by the grief of not being able to bid farewell to her husband.

In rebuilding her home and life, Nakonechna has welcomed her elderly mother and found solace in crafting capybara toys, symbols of endurance, through the Superhumans center. Her journey of self-acceptance took a transformative step forward when she wore shorts, embracing her changed body.
