Indian Government Extends SARTHAK-PDS Scheme for Technological Reforms in Public Distribution
The Indian Union Cabinet has greenlit the continuation of the SARTHAK-PDS scheme with a budget of Rs 25,530 crore until March 2031. This initiative aims to revamp the public distribution system through technology, combining financial aid and modern technology into one cohesive framework.
India's Union Cabinet has endorsed the SARTHAK-PDS initiative for an additional five years, approving a Rs 25,530 crore budget. This targets a tech-driven revamp of the public distribution system (PDS) to streamline the distribution of foodgrains, improve logistics, and enhance FPS dealers' operations.
Under the stewardship of Narendra Modi, the government plans to merge existing schemes, thereby creating an advanced PDS architecture incorporating AI, machine learning, and blockchain technologies. This project supports 81.35 crore people, ensuring food security by nurturing a unified distribution framework that minimizes leakages and enhances service delivery.
