California teenager Shrey Parikh emerged victorious at the Scripps National Spelling Bee, demonstrating his impressive spelling skills by correctly spelling 32 words in a rapid 90-second showdown. His closest competitor, New Jersey's Ishan Gupta, spelled 25 words in the same timeframe.

The win brings Parikh an array of rewards, including a USD 50,000 prize and the prestigious Scripps Cup. Additional rewards feature USD 2,500 from Merriam-Webster, flight credits from Delta, and a collection of reference volumes from Encyclopaedia Britannica. This year saw around 247 competitors from diverse regions, including five countries outside the US, participating in the three-day event held at D.A.R. Constitution Hall.

Parikh had advanced from a pool of nine finalists, with Georgia's Sarv Dharavane finishing in third place. The competition highlighted the intense dedication and talent of young spellers on an international stage.
