Divine Intervention: Taiwanese BTS Fans Turn to Taoist Traditions

Taiwanese K-pop fans are bringing a unique twist to their concert-ticket quests by engaging in ancient traditions. They are turning to Yue Lao, the Taoist god of love and marriage, hoping for divine intervention in securing tickets to BTS's much-anticipated shows in Kaohsiung.

Jessie Chuang, a 26-year-old fan, expressed that getting BTS concert tickets is a challenge. On social media, fans recommend praying to the God of Love as a means of securing a coveted seat. This form of matchmaking sees fans laying out purple-packaged snacks and merchandise at Taipei's Bangka Longshan Temple.

Originating a few years ago, this trend has gained traction among Taiwanese fans, who believe that Yue Lao's red thread of fate could connect them to a concert seat. With BTS slated to perform in Kaohsiung later this month, excitement and hopes are soaring.
