Assam`s vibrant Bihu festival is drawing to a close earlier than expected, as Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma called for the cancellation of remaining celebrations from May 10 onward. The request comes amidst heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, which have made headlines recently.
The Chief Minister expressed gratitude for the enthusiastic participation in the Bihu festivities over the past month but emphasized the necessity of concluding the celebrations. His announcement has prompted speculation, with escalating conflict cited as a potential reason for the abrupt decision.
Meanwhile, in Assam's Guwahati, devotees at the Kamakhya Temple offered prayers for the Indian Army`s strength against terrorism. Many voiced strong sentiments towards Pakistan, urging the Indian Army to eradicate terrorism fully. Recent incidents of cross-border tension have further fueled these sentiments.
