Southern Petrochemical Industries Corporation Ltd (SPIC) reported a profitable quarter ending in March 2025, marking a significant recovery from the previous year's losses. The fertiliser company posted a standalone profit of Rs 13.09 crore, contrasting a loss of Rs 29.18 crore in the same quarter last year.
For the financial year ending March 31, 2025, SPIC's standalone net profit surged to Rs 130.84 crore from Rs 87.91 crore the prior year. SPIC's performance is attributed to focused execution and cost efficiency, particularly in raw material sourcing and a shift to natural gas.
Chairman Ashwin Muthiah highlighted the strategic goals aligned with India's policies, and a proposed dividend increase was also announced. Additionally, nationwide fertiliser consumption is predicted to rise with expected monsoon conditions and policy support on crop pricing.
