Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has directed the establishment of a robust system aimed at ensuring essential commodities are readily and sufficiently accessible to the public. This move, highlighted in an official press release, aligns with the state's Food and Civil Supplies Department's comprehensive implementation of these directives.

Principal Secretary RC Meena has revealed that special instructions have been dispatched to District Collectors to secure an uninterrupted availability of these essential goods, while maintaining price stability amid prevailing conditions. Consequently, stringent monitoring and regulation of prices for 38 essential commodities are in effect across the state.

Under these guidelines, vendors, retailers, processors, millers, and importers are mandated to comply with legal regulations to prevent the hoarding of essentials. Notably, any entity found guilty of stockpiling will face stringent actions as prescribed by the Essential Commodities Act, 1955. A recent drop in food item inflation to a six-year low, coupled with sufficient supply and ongoing procurement at minimum support prices, underscores the state government's call for public trust in its measures, urging citizens not to heed unverified rumors.
