Amid growing tensions, Pakistan initiated small arms and artillery fire along the Line of Control in the Uri sector on Friday evening, prompting a proportionate response from the Indian Army.

A major escalation occurred along India's western border, as the Pakistani army executed numerous airspace breaches and drone intrusions on the nights of May 7 and 8, aiming at Indian military targets. Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, in a press briefing, disclosed that 300 to 400 drones, suspected to be Turkish Asisguard Songar models, were deployed at various locations. Several drones were shot down by Indian forces utilizing both kinetic and non-kinetic tactics.

Sources revealed that Pakistan attempted to replicate a Hamas-style attack, using crude rockets to target Jammu, following India's Operation Sindoor, which focused on terror infrastructure. Earlier, the Indian Army thwarted over 50 Pakistani drones during an extensive counter-drone operation. Armed Forces also disrupted a large-scale drone and missile offensive on Indian military sites and neutralized an Air Defence system near Lahore.
