The Uttar Pradesh government has commenced a groundbreaking initiative, purchasing maize directly from farmers at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for the first time. This initiative aims to empower local farmers throughout the purchasing period, from June 15 to July 31, with designated centres operating from 9 am to 6 pm.
Under the government's statement, maize will be procured during the marketing year 2024-25 at Rs 2,225 per quintal. During a recent visit to Auraiya, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath assured farmers of their continued progress and prosperity through this initiative.
The state government is facilitating purchases in multiple districts, including Budaun, Bulandshahr, and Ayodhya. However, farmers must register on the UP Kisan Mitra platform or fcs.up.gov.in using their active mobile numbers to benefit from this opportunity and secure the MSP.
