The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) launched demolition drives in the Ashok Vihar slum area, specifically at Jailorwala Bagh, and at the Bhoomihin Camp located in Kalkaji, sparking significant unrest. On Monday, residents faced eviction following court orders concerning the dismantling of illegal structures.
Amid the operation at Bhoomihin Camp, AAP MLA Atishi staged a protest against the demolition, resulting in her detention by Delhi Police. Atishi directed sharp criticism at the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, warning of repercussions from the affected slum residents against them.
After her detention, AAP's national convenor Arvind Kejriwal condemned the BJP government, claiming their actions have worsened the situation in Delhi. He voiced his concerns on social media, blaming the government for disrupting the lives of the city's slum dwellers.
