In the wake of the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad, D Raja, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI), has called for an exhaustive investigation to uncover the root causes of the accident. Raja questioned whether the mishap was due to lapses in aircraft maintenance, airport management, or runway conditions.
A high-level inquiry has been commissioned by the government to provide an objective assessment of the causes behind the June 12 incident, involving a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner that was bound for London but crashed shortly after takeoff. The crash, which resulted in 241 fatalities, including the former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani, has led to increased scrutiny of safety protocols.
On Monday, experts from Boeing and the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau arrived at the crash site to conduct inspections. Concurrently, the Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad has reported progress in identifying victims through DNA matches, with 47 bodies already dispatched to various districts for repatriation.
