The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) has unveiled a groundbreaking advancement in disaster preparedness with the inauguration of the BHISHM Cube. This mobile medical unit, under the Bharat Health Initiative for Sahyog, Hita & Maitri, aims to deliver quick, comprehensive care during disasters, reflecting India's commitment to healthcare resilience.

The inauguration ceremony at JIPMER in Puducherry saw the presence of dignitaries including District Collector A. Kulothungan, and Directors V. Ravichandran and Vir Singh Negi. A detailed demonstration, led by Retired Chief Surgeon Tanmay Roy and the HLL Lifecare Limited team, highlighted the Cube's design and capabilities, offering hands-on training to healthcare and disaster management professionals.

Equipped with life-saving tools, each BHISHM Cube, lightweight and portable, is designed for rapid deployment in challenging terrains. Built on TCCC and ATLS protocols, it can support up to 200 casualties, emphasizing quick response during the critical 'golden hour'. This initiative marks JIPMER's alignment with both national and global disaster management standards.
