In a concerted effort to tackle illegal expansions, the Sambhal district administration has launched a significant anti-encroachment drive, targeting specific areas identified for unauthorized land use. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Vikas Chandra highlighted a key operation in Shehbazpur village, where a graveyard had expanded beyond its designated boundary of 1.9 hectares to 2.3 hectares, which has since been addressed.
The drive began earlier in several areas including Bahjoi, Chandausi, Sambhal, and Sirsi, as noted by District Magistrate Rajendra Pensiya. He outlined the administration's protocol, explaining that individuals encroaching on government land receive a 15-day notice to voluntarily remove the encroachment before enforced action is taken.
In conjunction with clearing encroachments, the district is also focused on aesthetic enhancements. Mani Bhushan Tiwari of the Sambhal Municipal Council shared insights into the beautification plan, mentioning the installation of statues of renowned personalities at key locations like Chandausi Chauraha. This initiative aims not only at beautifying Sambhal but also at alleviating traffic congestion through road widening and strategic placements of statues.
