A SpiceJet flight SG 2696 en route to Tirupati had to make a return to Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Thursday due to issues with its baggage door. The airline disclosed that an intermittent illumination of the flight's AFT baggage door light was observed after take-off, prompting the pilots to turn back as a safety precaution.

SpiceJet assured passengers that the cabin pressure remained stable and that an alternative aircraft was arranged for passengers to continue their journey to Tirupati. GMR, the operator of Hyderabad airport, confirmed the aircraft's return, citing technical issues for the decision.

Simultaneously, Hyderabad's airports encountered bomb threat alerts. The airport authorities received a bomb threat email aimed at a Qatar Airways freight flight, urging an immediate law enforcement response. Likewise, Begumpet Airport was subject to a bomb alert, leading authorities to conduct exhaustive searches as a precautionary measure. Although no threats were found, these alerts hit amidst heightened security concerns following several similar incidents in the region.
