Tensions Escalate Around Iran's Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant Amid Israeli Strikes
The situation at Iran's Bushehr nuclear power plant, which is maintained by Russian specialists, remains under control according to Rosatom's Alexei Likhachev. Despite Israeli assertions of striking the facility, Russia ensures the safety of its workers and warns against U.S. military intervention alongside Israel.

Amidst heightened tensions, Russian nuclear energy leader Alexei Likhachev reassured the international community that Iran's Bushehr nuclear power plant is fully operational and under control. This comes following a costly slip by the Israeli military, which mistakenly claimed a strike on the Russian-constructed facility.
Bushehr, Iran's lone nuclear power plant, leverages Russian fuel that's managed to reduce proliferation risks through dedicated protocols. Likhachev confirmed that although the atmosphere remains tense, Rosatom is prepared to react to any emergency, suggesting that pre-mobilization activities may involve staff evacuations if required.
With up to 600 workers, comprised of both permanent and temporary staff, Russian President Vladimir Putin highlighted that Israel has promised to ensure their safety. Meanwhile, Russian officials have vocalized opposition to any U.S. interference in the Israeli-Iran conflict, as Israel aims to counter Iran's nuclear aspirations, despite Iran's denials of such intentions.
