In a significant boost to rail connectivity in Eastern India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated a new Vande Bharat Express train via video conferencing from Siwan. The train will run between Patliputra Junction in Patna, Bihar, and Gorakhpur Junction in Uttar Pradesh, providing a fast, safe, and convenient travel option for commuters.
This new service, which operates six days a week, except Saturdays, will cut down the current travel time from 10-12 hours to just 7 hours. Departing Gorakhpur at 5:40 AM, the train is scheduled to reach Patliputra by 12:45 PM. The return journey departs Patliputra at 3:30 PM, arriving in Gorakhpur by 10:30 PM, traversing stations across Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
The Vande Bharat Express is a centerpiece of Modi's initiative to develop Eastern India, incorporating modern features like air-conditioned coaches, automatic doors, and CCTV security. Along with enhancing regional connectivity, this project aims at stimulating the local economy by boosting trade, tourism, and employment opportunities. Additionally, a new state-of-the-art locomotive built at Marhowra Plant for export was also launched today.
