Gujarat's Urban Transformation: Rs 3394.55 Crore Sanctioned for City Development

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has approved a significant allocation of Rs 3394.55 crore for newly formed municipal corporations and Surat Municipal Corporation. This funding aims at enhancing public utilities, infrastructure, and heritage sites as part of the state's 2025 Urban Development initiative, aiming to elevate living standards and the Happiness Index.

In a major boost to urban transformation, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has sanctioned Rs 3394.55 crore for the development of newly established municipal corporations, including Surat Municipal Corporation. This allocation aims to enhance public utility infrastructure across cities and metropolitan areas, according to an official release.

The Urban Development Year-2025 initiative will see Rs 3263 crore directed towards Surat Municipal Corporation for a range of projects including physical and social infrastructure, urban mobility, and unique identity enhancements. Plans include storm drainage, water treatment, energy efficiency, and waste management upgrades. An additional Rs 66.94 crore is earmarked for outgrowth area development under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana.

Further allocations include Rs 17 crore for Nadiad Municipal Corporation's outgrowth areas, with projects in street lighting, toilet renovations, and lake development, while Anand Municipal Corporation will receive Rs 17 crore for new water infrastructure. Surendranagar, Bharuch, and Songadh will also benefit from targeted funds aimed at water supply and unique heritage developments.
