The Maharashtra government has issued a resolution to withdraw all charge sheets filed in pending criminal cases connected to political and social movements. This decision applies to cases filed before March 31, 2025. Previously, a state order suggested withdrawing cases filed by August 31, 2024.
In preparation for Nashik Kumbh Mela 2027, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that Union Minister Nitin Gadkari approved eight new roads, including the Ring Road and the road to Trimbakeshwar. Fadnavis highlighted the importance of developing the national highway network for the Mahakumbh event. This infrastructure upgrade aims to accommodate the expected influx of visitors.
Maharashtra minister Girish Mahajan stated that Rs 3,700 crore has been sanctioned for infrastructure improvements. A meeting with Union Minister Gadkari emphasized the need for extensive planning due to an anticipated three to four times increase in attendees compared to previous Kumbh gatherings. A significant traditional change, replacing the 'Shahi Snan' with 'Amrit Snan', was also announced, marking a historic shift for the event.
