Tensions have surfaced in Tamil Nadu as the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) spokesperson TKS Ekangovan criticized AIADMK's Rajenthra Bhalaji for allegedly politicizing the Lord Murugan conference. Ekangovan accused Bhalaji of disregarding influential Dravidian icons Periyar and Anna, alleging that the conference's film screening had political undertones.
Meanwhile, state Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister, Sekar Babu, claimed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized the conference for political advantages, asserting the Tamil Nadu government steered clear of involving politicians or soliciting funds from attendees at similar past events.
In contrast, Tamil Nadu BJP Chief Nainar Nagendran dismissed the claims, ensuring the event's spiritual focus and open invitation to all parties. He reiterated that the gathering aspired to foster unity rather than political gain. This dialogue unfolds amid protests by the DMK against the Union government for claims they ignored the Keeladi excavation findings.
