In a fiery exchange with the Congress party, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey referenced a document reportedly released by the U.S. intelligence agency CIA in 2011, alleging that late Congress leader HKL Bhagat facilitated funding for over 150 Congress MPs by the Soviet Union, casting them as Russian agents.
Dubey took to social platform 'X' to highlight the alleged connections, suggesting that Russia influenced Indian media by publishing 16,000 news articles with the help of journalists who acted as agents. The BJP MP further asserted that during the Congress administration, around 1,100 Russian intelligence personnel actively influenced bureaucrats, businesses, and opinion makers in India.
He also pointed fingers at Congress candidate Subhadra Joshi for allegedly accepting Rs 5 lakh from the German government under the guise of election financing. Dubey's statements have sparked calls for a comprehensive investigation into these historical ties and actions during the Cold War era, demanding accountability from Congress.
