The recovery process of victims from the ill-fated Air India-171 flight, which crashed in Ahmedabad, has come to a solemn conclusion. Medical Superintendent Rakesh Joshi announced this Monday that all 260 bodies have been identified and subsequently handed over to their families.

A total of 254 victims were identified through DNA matches, while six were recognized via facial identification. Among the deceased, 241 were passengers, consisting of 181 Indians, 52 British citizens, seven Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian. The remaining 19 individuals were non-passengers, reflecting the extensive impact of this tragedy.

The collaborative efforts of the health department and police, alongside other agencies, enabled the successful identification within a challenging timeframe of 13 days. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau is actively examining data from the aircraft's black boxes to ascertain the cause of this devastating event.
