In a significant stride towards rural electrification, the Government of India is lighting up remote tribal settlements under its Pradhan Mantri Janajati Adivasi Trijan Nyaya Maha Abhiyan, according to a press release by APEPDCL. This initiative seeks to bring critical infrastructure to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG) residing in isolated areas.
The Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL) has scrutinized its jurisdiction, locating 23,000 PVTG households in tribal villages devoid of electricity. As part of the Pradhan Mantri Jan-Man Yojana, the organization is advancing at an unprecedented pace to deliver electricity under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme.
APEPDCL's employees faced formidable challenges in reaching remote locales with essential materials such as poles, transformers, and conductors, aiming to establish a robust electricity network where none existed. However, through diligent efforts, over 22,000 homes have been electrified, a pivotal accomplishment celebrated with Gandhi Jayanti assemblies and certifications for supporting village leaders.
