In a notable push towards gender equality in education, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the importance of women's rapid development for India's 21st-century progress. In alignment with this vision, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel of Gujarat has dedicated efforts to transforming the state's educational landscape, particularly for women aspiring to enter the medical field.

The Gujarat government has introduced the Mukhyamantri Kanya Kelavani Nidhi Yojana (MKKN) to ensure financial constraints do not obstruct the journey of Gujarat's female MBBS students. By providing monetary assistance to capable female students from families earning up to Rs 6 lakh annually, the MKKN scheme enables them to realize their medical career aspirations. As of now, 25,768 students have received a combined total of Rs 772 crore in aid.

The scheme has surpassed its initial target for the 2024-25 period, assisting 5,155 students with disbursements amounting to Rs 162.69 crore. Beneficiaries like Pratibhaben Chauhan from Jamnagar express gratitude for the assistance, crediting the program for paving the way to their dreams. The Gujarat government's commitment under Patel's leadership is a significant stride toward empowering women and bolstering the nation's healthcare sector.
