Leadership Transition at NHPC: Chaudhary Retires, Gupta Recommended

Raj Kumar Chaudhary has concluded his tenure as Chairman and Managing Director of NHPC, stepping down upon reaching the age of superannuation. This change was announced by the state-run power company on Monday.
Chaudhary first assumed the role of CMD on August 7, 2024. As he retires, government headhunter PESB has recommended Bhupender Gupta to succeed him. Gupta, the current Director (Technical) at THDC India Limited, was among nine candidates interviewed for the position.
NHPC, recognized as India's largest hydropower developer under the Ministry of Power, is advancing its renewable energy portfolio. The company has diversified into solar and wind energy and recently launched commercial operations of the Karnisar Solar Power Project's latest phase.
