Madhya Pradesh Bolsters Water Conservation with Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan

The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Mohan Yadav, participated in the closing ceremony of the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan in Khandwa district, underpinning the state's commitment to water conservation with projects worth over Rs 1,518 crore. He announced the continuation of initiatives like 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam', encouraging tree plantation across the state.
The new scheme launched aims to promote horticulture, supporting 30,000 women with Rs 3 lakh each to develop orchards, transforming 30,000 acres over three years at an estimated cost of Rs 900 crore. Additionally, 57,207 rural development works and 888 water conservation structures were inaugurated to bolster the state's greenery efforts.
Yadav highlighted ongoing and upcoming impacts: cooling in the Nimar region and a targeted nearly doubling of the state's irrigation area. The contributions of Ghats renovations under the project, notable regulations of 140 major drains, and support to riverine projects like Ken-Betwa Link were also emphasized, reaffirming Madhya Pradesh as a vital riverine hub.
