On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi provided an in-depth reflection on the 'Digital India' initiative, marking a decade since its inception. He commended the mission's success in transforming access to technology for all citizens, emphasizing its role in building an inclusive digital infrastructure.
Modi highlighted significant advancements, including a surge in internet connections from 25 crores to 97 crores and the laying of 42 lakh kilometers of Optical Fibre Cable to connect remote areas. He attributes part of this success to platforms like UPI, which facilitates over 100 billion transactions annually.
The Prime Minister also praised the influence of India's digital economy on MSMEs and small entrepreneurs through initiatives like ONDC and GeM. Asserting India's status as a startup hub, he envisaged the country transitioning to global digital leadership in the next decade, inviting innovators to contribute to this vision.
