Assam has reached a new high in paddy procurement with a staggering 6.97 lakh metric tonnes during the Kharif Marketing Season 2024-25, a record achievement according to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. This accomplishment reflects the state's dedication to connecting farmers with vital markets and ensuring they receive the Minimum Support Price they deserve.

In the 2022-23 season, Assam procured 5.92 lakh MT and 3.14 lakh MT in 2023-24, demonstrating a significant upward trend in procurement efforts. Alongside domestic achievements, farmers in the Majuli district have successfully exported 267 MT of Red Rice to markets in the Middle East and EU, further highlighting the high quality and nutrient-rich characteristics of Assam's agricultural produce.

This milestone was achieved through the initiatives of the Majuli Agro Organic Farmer Producer Company Limited, supported by the Assam Department of Horticulture and Food Processing. A flag-off ceremony marked the beginning of this export journey, where the chemical-free cultivated red bao rice was shipped from Majuli to Mumbai before reaching global markets, enhancing Brand Assam's international footprint.
