The 73rd edition of the India International Garment Fair was inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Textiles and External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita. Attended by industry leaders, international buyers, and exhibitors, the event showcased India's textile industry on a global platform. Chairman AEPC Sudhir Sekhri was also present, emphasizing the fair's importance.

Minister Margherita hailed the IIGF as Asia's largest garment fair, celebrating Indian textiles' creativity, craftsmanship, and global confidence. With an exhibition spanning 21,000 square meters, the event attracted buyers from 80 countries, reaffirming international trust in Indian textiles. The minister highlighted efforts under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership to broaden India's textiles' global reach, focusing on value and versatility.

This fair comes at a significant time for India's textile sector, contributing notably to GDP and exports. The plan to cross $100 billion in exports by 2030 involves every MSME and exporter, said Margherita. He stressed enhancing productivity and reducing import dependency while negotiating new trade agreements with the UK, EU, and US, promising new growth opportunities.

Sudhir Sekhri expressed optimism, stating IIGF's role in championing 'Made in India' brands globally. This edition highlights sustainable practices and showcases India's design and technological advancements. Participation from 12 Indian states and 79 countries is aimed at driving growth and fostering international market connections for MSMEs.
