A credit linkage of Rs 365 crore to Self Help Groups (SHGs) in Goa has empowered thousands of women to initiate small enterprises and service-based businesses, announced Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday.

Speaking at a bankers' conclave organized by the Goa State Rural Livelihood Mission (GSRLM), Sawant lauded the role of financial institutions in supporting SHGs. The gathering was attended by prominent officials and banking sector representatives.

The fiscal boost, provided during FY 24-25, facilitated over 3,250 SHGs, impacting more than 43,000 households. Sawant emphasized the profound personal stories behind these numbers, stressing the importance of simplifying credit access for further empowerment.
